The Great Commission
The Christians True Call And Assignment
What Do You Think About God
What you think about God is the most important thing about you is a quote by A.W. Tozer. And I believe what we think about God can determine if we’re ready to reach our full potential as ambassadors for God’s Kingdom. As followers of Christ we’re called to align our hearts and mouths with God’s character and nature to showcase God’s heart for humanity. This is how we accomplish the Great Commission that God has called us to. Jesus told us in John 14:12 (GNT) “I am telling you the truth:those who believe in me will do what I do-yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father. And 14- “If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.” Jesus knew he was our example and everything he said and did was to show us what we were going to be expected to do.
The Great Commission
In Matthew 28:18 (NIV) Jesus said “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” And in verse 19 he said: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Our role is to make disciples of all nations. What does it mean to make disciples of all nations? I think it means to be Christlike in attitude, mindset and behavior, so we can reflect the goodness and love that Jesus modeled for us when he was here. Jesus set the example by coming to serve us as God’s perfect example of his love and light and willingness to solve our problems.
Colossians 1:13 affirms the believers position. “He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son He loves,” This transfer empowers Christians to act as agents of light and truth in a dark world. He has no intention of rescuing us from that he has called us to overcome.
The spiritual awakening that God is stirring up in his body of Christ, is an awareness of how we’ve been deceived by a false prophet eschatology that leaves us feeling powerless and defeated. When we accept Christ as our savior we are expected to receive his teachings and move forward in them. It’s a mature child of God that’s ready to be a part of the Great Commission.
What Evil Fears
The powers of darkness know the scriptures too, so what do they fear? Their own destruction through the success of the Great Commission. They know that the longer we take to accomplish the great commission, the longer they survive. The resurrection took back authority from Satan, but evil doubled down, and took control over time, and they were able to accomplish that, because people didn’t step into their roles as salt and light. I believe God allowed it for a time, but that time has ended and we’re being asked to step up. The enemy has been in survival mode since Jesus ascended to heaven as we’re told in 1 Peter 5:8 ((NLT) “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour”.
I take this verse seriously, which means I invoke God’s impenetrable wall around me and my family to block the powers of darkness EVERYDAY! The enemy is a serious foe especially if you’re a child of God walking in your calling for sharing God’s Kingdom. It is then you will encounter his attempts to block what you’ve been called to do. We were given authority from Jesus, but we also must exercise that authority to fully function as a warrior for God’s truth.
Finishing Our Assignment
When we understand Scripture we can easily see that it isn’t circumstances or even a time frame that determine Jesus’s return. It’s a finished assignment as told in Matthew 24:14(NIV) “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” And supported by Mark 13:10(NIV) “And the gospel must first be preached to all nations”.
History won’t conclude, then, until Matthew 24:14 is fulfilled. All nations will have to hear and see-to witness is to see-this gospel of the kingdom before Jesus returns. The gospel of saving souls will not suffice-it’s the gospel of the kingdom that must get out. That means the message of His Lordship over everything must be followed by a demonstration of of His Lordship over everything. There will have to be at least one “sheep nation” before He calls all nations into judgment”.
We put an end to evil by finishing our assignment so Jesus can return to destroy the wicked, in front of the saints. Jude 1:14-15 (NKJV) “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and all of the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”
Satan and his entourage know how this ends because they’ve read the Bible too. God is waiting for his children to step into their roles as salt and light and bringers of his kingdom to defeat darkness. Just as Acts 3:21 tells us, “Jesus is held in the heavens until the restoration of all things spoken of by the prophets”
Restoration Of All Things
The restoration of all things refers to God’s future plan to renew creation and restore it to its original state of perfection, reversing the effects of sin and corruption. This restitution arrives fulfilling promises spoken by all the holy prophets since the world began. This includes:
Cosmic Renewal: It involves freeing us from a world of decay created by the evil all around us, resulting in a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness swells (Romans 8:21 and 2 Peter 3:13)
Ultimate Reconciliation where God will reconcile all things in heaven and on earth to Himself, eliminating sorrow, pain, and death. (Colossians 1:20 and Revelation 21:4).
Fulfillment of Prophecy: The restoration fulfills specific Old Testament promises to Israel and humanity, including the healing of relationships and the establishment of God’s kingdom. (Malachi 4:6 and Isaiah 65:17)
Christ’s Return: This event is tied to the Second Coming of Christ, who will return to consummate God’s redemptive plan and institute final universal restoration. (Acts 1:11 and Revelation 22:20)
Fullness Of The Gentiles
Michael Heiser, an amazing theological scholar, had this to say about the Great Commission. When the fullness of the Gentiles is brought in, then Israel will awaken and that needs to happen as part of the success of the Great Commission. Romans 11:25 (NLT) “I want you to understand this mystery, dear brothers and sisters, so that you will not feel proud of yourselves. Some of the people of Israel have hard hearts, but this will last only until the full number of Gentiles comes to Christ.”
This is described as fullness being the completion of God’s covenant family. “Here the fullness of the Gentiles” signifies the process of forming the multi-ethnic Church where Jews and Gentiles are united as the true “Israel of God”. When the Great commission is accomplished and all the people are gathered, Jesus presents the Kingdom to God, and the evil will be destroyed.
While Israel is a complicated subject to try and determine their true nature, I listened to a virtual tour guide (Shlomi Harazi), who is an Israeli citizen, and he had this to say; Most people of Jewish descent have not read the new testament at all. They have no idea of the scriptures that tells us all the wonders of Jesus and his teachings, they are deliberately ignorant of who, what and why Jesus came to earth. So, I believe, the fullness of the gentiles is the carrot that God dangles to awaken his first born Israel. It isn’t that God favors Israel, it’s that Israel is his first born and it fits in God’s order of things. As we have seen throughout Scripture, the order of things is paramount to God. This is my current understanding of how this stands.
What Obedience Looks Like
Obedience is a crucial aspect of what’s needed to accomplish God’s plans for humanity. It’s nothing to fear. I love this excerpt from the book titled The End Of The World As We Know It:
“False prophets have convinced us that we win when Jesus returns, but Jesus has said we are David and we win when we rise up in his strength. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. Romans 16:20. Romans 8:19 tells us that creation itself groans and travails, not for Jesus to return, but for the Davids to arise. Yes it is God who does it, but it is Christ in us that is the hope of glory. Yes God provides all the meaningful power, but he does it when we engage with him. God did provide the supernatural power for Goliath to be killed but it was Davids ability to see God that activated him. God had the power over the enemy the entire previous forty days of Goliath’s siege but was not going to intervene until someone could first see that, and then be moved by what they saw. It is not God helps those who help themselves but rather God helps those who properly see him and thus properly bring him into their fight.”
Follower’s of Christ need to start thinking BIGGER about who God is, what Jesus did and the authority that was passed onto us. We were made in God’s image. We ALL have the capacity to be like David, and the journey to discover that, should leave us feeling excited and empowered.
When We Surrender To God
John Wesley said; “ The World has yet to see what God will do with a man fully consecrated to him.” A man fully consecrated to God is one who has completely surrendered his life, will and possessions to God, dedicating himself wholly to divine purposes. This involves intentional separation from worldly influences and a deep commitment to live according to God’s will, as seen in Romans 12:1(NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship.
There’s no shortcut to the process of surrender and obedience. We must surrender our will to Gods and we must obey him. This unlocks doors that are otherwise closed. Matthew 16:24(NIV) “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.’”
We cannot do a complete and thorough job, of any kind, without the proper tools. It is God’s intention that those that seek his truth, are adequately prepared to carry and act in that truth, toward the good of all mankind. God knew the end, from the beginning, and prepared accordingly. And though the Battle is the Lords, our presence is required on the battlefield. But our fight is not against human opponents, as told in Ephesians 6:12(NLT) “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
What Tools Has God Given Us
Prophets-1 Thessalonians 5:20 (NIV) “do not treat prophecies with contempt.” Prophets are extremely important for completely understanding God’s plan and truths. Prophets are God’s mouthpiece for those willing to carry out the assignment to make disciples of all nations. Proverbs 25:2 tells us it’s the glory of God to conceal a matter and the glory of kings to seek it out. God conceals things, not to play games with us, but to thwart the evil that has divine capabilities, and to make us worthy of the gifts he has in store for us. Prophets are an unexpected gift from God because evil never knows what God will release through them.
Our heavenly Father has prepared for every possible scenario to ensure we are armed for the battle we face here on earth, but free will demands we work for it, because that’s what grows us up to fit with a King of God’s magnitude. 2 Peter 1:20(NIV) “Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophets own interpretation of things. 21(NLT) or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God”. This verse emphasizes that biblical prophecy is not a human invention or interpretation, but a divine communication where prophets were guided and directed by the Holy Spirit to deliver God’s message.
Faith-There is more power in faith in God, than in any other belief. I compare faith to a muscle. The more you exercise your faith, the stronger it will become. Hebrews 11:1 provides the primary biblical definition, describing faith as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This verse establishes faith as a confident trust in God’s promises even when they are not yet visible or fully realized. Faith is trust and reliance on God. Genuine faith is evidenced by action; without works, faith is considered dead (James 2:17). Mark 9:23 highlights the transformative power of belief, noting that “all things are possible for one who believes.”
Faith is the transformative belief that we are made in the image of the most powerful force in existence, that we are loved by that force, and we can accomplish anything when our connection to that force is realized.
Prayer- Prayer is the primary means for believers to communicate with God, seek guidance, and surrender their concerns. I believe prayer is where our power comes from. James 5:16 (NKJV) “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” It aligns human will with God’s will. Prayer can be done in silence, out loud, by praise and worship, in groups, in writing. and it can be done anytime and anywhere. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV) “Pray without ceasing.” This doesn’t mean a non-stop vocalization, but as maintaining a continual attitude of prayer and awareness of God’s presence throughout daily life. And John 15:5 tells us “for apart from me you can do nothing.” This tells me that we were designed to be in close communication with God and there are secrets revealed through the message of the scriptures.
Scriptures -Scriptures are how God communicates with us, as our guide for life. Ask it any question and something shows up to guide you. There are guides for every area of our lives with stories that prove his love and devotion to us. Laura Sanger said Scriptures are like buried treasure that keeps revealing itself as you delve into them, and I agree. When you familiarize yourselves with the Scriptures you’re getting a divine education and training for all that’s possible between you and God. The value of Scripture lies in its source (divine inspiration) and its function in the life of a believer. Ultimately, it’s supreme value is found in its ability to lead people to know Christ, offering spiritual wisdom, eternal life, and the means to withstand evil in a world distant from God.
“For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power” (1 Cor. 4:20). Practicing a gospel without power produces a very inferior brand of Christianity whose followers look more like lovers of pleasure than lovers of God. The purpose of embracing a Spirit-centric gospel is to produce passionate lovers of God.
Holy Spirit- The Bible presents the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity. Jesus told his apostles: If I go God is sending the helper. It’s better if I go so the Father will send, the counselor, the helper, the spirit of truth. John 14:26 (NIV) “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.” In John 20:22 (NIV) “When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit.” And Jesus promised that the heavenly Father would give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. (Luke 11:13)
The Holy Spirit is a necessary part of our ability to step into the authority Jesus gave to us. What really bothers the enemy is the dimension of God that the Holy Spirit brings to planet Earth. He’s the one who brings us the presence, power, and the passion of God. Without Him our religion is for the most part dead-even with right doctrines on God and Jesus.
The reason Satan fights us so strenuously on the Holy Spirit is that the Spirit allows us to be all that the Father desires us to be. He’s our teacher (John 14:25), He’s our prophet (John 16:13), and He’s our empowerer (Acts 1). Without Him we will not know things we should, we will not know things to come and we will not have power. When the Holy Spirit comes in power, His manifestations don’t feel religious-but they do bring a dimension of heaven to Earth. The Holy Spirit will completely revolutionize your ability to see yourself as a Kingdom Ambassador.
It’s exciting how many ways God’s prepared us for the assignment we face. But it’s also a huge undertaking to prepare for. Once we conquer our fear, we stretch our faith muscle, increase and expand on prayer, explore scriptures to gain knowledge, invite in the Holy Spirit, and strap on God’s Armour to destroy evil for good. The “Armor of God” Ephesians 6:10-18 describes symbolic armor: Belt of truth, Breastplate of righteousness, Shield of faith, Helmet of salvation, and Sword of the Spirit (the Word of God). This practice and mindset is like putting on your Avengers Suit. In times of extreme warfare against evil, this is a valuable tool.
The tools God’s provided are meant to empower and embolden us to step into our destiny to make disciples of all nations, and unite humanity as one nation under God.
Just to be clear, history doesn’t conclude until this assignment is accomplished. If we don’t step into our roles as Salt and Light to make disciples of ALL NATIONS, our children, and our children’s children. will continue to struggle against the evil we are meant to destroy. Romans 16:20 (NIV) “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you”.
God is coming hard on the false eschatology that promotes another rescue, because it delays our ability to unite with Jesus in God’s Kingdom.
The false beliefs promoted by the enemy have confused us into inaction, when action is required.
Every follower of Christ needs to find, follow and trust in God’s messages hidden in Scriptures so that evil can be defeated once and for all.
From the Book Becoming A Super Hero:
“The followers of Christ are meant to contend for the goodness and greatness of our Father God to be seen in the land of the living. He wants to do the great big possible stuff, with us and through us. He’s going to squash all rebellion on the planet by love alone. Love will never fail. We have to behead any false Eschatology that puts limits on what God can do through us. He loves partnering with us and reminding us of our incredible value to him by giving us assignments. He doesn’t need us, but he chooses to use us.
You can overcome anything. You can come back from any failure or fall. There’s nothing that’s impossible with man that’s not possible with God. The whole world will experience a profound societal transformation as the sons and daughters of God arise with his light and glory. There are no limits. Isaiah 60:1 “Arise Shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”
What will your life look like when the glory of the Lord is seen on you?
*I encourage my readers to check my references to these writings to verify what you believe. The Bible tells us explicitly in Luke 8, 1 Thessalonians 5:21 and 1 John 4:1, to check everything and verify it’s good and from God. I’ve been given the green light by the Holy Spirit to share God’s truth and plan. This is the Christian call and assignment. And the next nine detailed articles will tell us how it needs to be done. Stay tuned for my eight part enemy expose coming soon, as I expose the Great Prostitute of Revelation seventeen nine. God’s Kingdom is on the move and it’s an exciting time to be alive!
